Please reach us at joshua@outofstepclay.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
If you are a beginner, take some classes at our sister site, Out of Step Clay, conveniently 1 mile down 38th Ave. If you are new to our studio, start with a class. This is to make sure our studio would be a good fit for you, and you would be a good fit for our studio.
Absolutely NO outside clay or glazes can be brought into the Next Step Studio for use. We offer 3 different clays for purchase. The purchase price includes use of dozens of commercial glazes selected for their positive results. If you bring in your own clay or glazes your membership/participating in our studio will be immediately revoked.
But why? Bringing in the wrong clay or glazes can have serious negative effects on our studio and equipment. We also have are clay priced at a point to cover the costs of the clay, glazes, and kiln firing costs.
Unfortunately we do not have the space in our studio to accommodate artist who are looking to regularly profit from their work. The occasional art sale is one thing. But we do not fire to your schedule or needs. Instead we fire our kilns as it make most sense for the general studio.
Our studio is for paying members and students only. We can not accommodate or take the liability risk of having non members in our studio space. Friends and family are welcome into our gallery space on Fridays-Sundays though.
Unfortunately, no. If you would no longer like to be a member for any period of time you will be giving up your spot to those on our waitlist. If there is no waitlist when you return, then you can rejoin. But any new or returning member must pay first and last month to join/rejoin the studio.
No... they can’t.
Next Step Clay Studio is the brainchild of Joshua Margolis and Griffin Marsh. Both artists have been working in clay for a combined 45 years(basically making them the Voltron of ceramics education).
Joshua has spent the past 30+ years working with clay, and 20 years in ceramics education. He has show his work all over the country, including an artist in residence at the de Young Fine Arts Museum in San Francisco. He is also the creator of the beloved children‘s book series staring Melvin the Robot.
Griffin Marsh likes long walks on the beach and romantic comedies.
In April of 2022 Joshua opened Out of Step Clay Studio in Wheat Ridge, Co. It instantly(if not magically) became the coolest educational ceramics studio in the Denver Metro Area(if not the world). As the studio had quickly grown to capacity, Joshua has received continued calls for memberships and more advanced class offering. While wanting to focus on beginner classes, Joshua recognized the need for a dedicated space for more independent recreational artist and advanced students. He reached out to his brother in all but blood Griffin, with the idea to build a second studio, located close to Out of Step Clay that could be a continuation or “Next Step”, as artist advanced their clay skills. And thus Next Step Clay was born!
Located one block off of the hip and popular Tennyson St., Next Step Clay studio will cement itself in Denver lore as THE place to clay. Gauntlet thrown.
